Our mission
When we travelled to Japan for the first time, we knew that it was considered good manners in Japan to always do your best, exceed customer expectations and strive for perfection in everything you do. However, it is quite different to have experienced all of this for yourself.
We encountered so many small moments in which this aspiration surprised and delighted us. A simple purchase: A friendly greeting. Discreet assistance. The perfectly normal question of whether the purchase should be gift-wrapped.
This pursuit of excellence is also reflected in products. Whether it's onigiri packaging that can be opened with absolute ease or elegant wrapping for handmade incense.
Japanese products are not loud. They are not flashy. They do not chase short-lived trends. They are not inferior and lovelessly produced. Japanese people attach great importance to quality.
Beauty is important in Japan. So is naturalness. People also like things to be subtle. This is reflected in skincare products, for example. One problem we had with European skincare was the often aggressive and artificial fragrances. In Japan, fragrances are subtle and pleasant. Western routines also often lack regenerating toners and intensive hydration in all steps of the skincare routine. Japanese natural skincare solves these problems and gently but effectively supports the skin's natural function.
Treating yourself, your environment and your belongings with care is a credo that runs like a thread through everyday life and society as a whole. It therefore makes sense to design products that are sustainable, functional, durable and, at the same time, timelessly beautiful. A counterpoint to our Western throwaway society.
Similarly, many things that we do on autopilot and often ‘on the side’ are celebrated as rituals in Japan. Consciously taking time for something and experiencing it with all your senses creates gratitude, contentment and inner peace. Today, we call this ‘deceleration’. In a world where everything has to be faster and faster and more and more, many people long for a more conscious life with more moments of happiness.
Small daily rituals help us to incorporate these short breaks into our everyday lives – whether it's quiet meditation in the morning, a fragrant skincare ritual in the evening, daily self-reflection in a journal or a relaxing bath after a long day at work.
